Mike & Stacy Riffle
Turbana, COLOMBIA
CHURCH PLANTING: The Lord has used the Riffles to plant a church in Turbana, translated “The Nest of Grace”. Fabio Ledezma was just added as a Colombian elder to serve along with Mike. They presently have 50 members and one deacon. The two elders have been preaching the Gospel in the homes of their people during the week when relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited. They have seen encouraging results from this outreach
BOY’S HOMES: The orphanage in Turbana is organized village-style. The boys are placed in a home within the farm that has a house-mom and a house-dad to raise them up in the ways of the Lord. They learn how to function as a family unit, submit themselves to God and to others, and attend nightly devotions led by the father of the home. Education is also provided to help the boys catch up to their grade level and eventually earn their certificate. Lord willing, these boys will grow into men of God that will live for His glory and adorn the gospel of Jesus Christ in Columbia.
SEMINARY TRAINING: In 2020 , seminary training was begun in affiliation with Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary of Owensboro, KY. Four times a year the church hosts a week-long module with live instruction and discussion from a visiting lecturer. Six cabins have been built on the property, with each set up to house eight men. Interest in this training is growing and it is hoped that it will translate into the planting and strengthening of local churches.
